A small checklist for the summer vacation
The most important things in brief
- Are you one of those people who don't like to travel unprepared, especially in summer?
- Then it is strongly recommended to create a packing list or checklist.
- It's always annoying when you arrive at your destination and realize you have to buy things you could have brought from home.
- Because on the one hand that puts a strain on the holiday budget - and on the other hand it's much easier to go away if you're well prepared.
Summer vacation can be a real challenge. Traffic jams on the trunk roads, overcrowded trains, chaos at the airport - these are things that you secretly already expect. But even packing your suitcase in the days before departure becomes a gamble. What comes with you, what stays at home? Create a checklist, preferably in the weeks before the start of your vacation, so that you can work through it at your leisure.
Minimize the financial burden...
Sure, you're always tempted to preach to yourself that you shouldn't pay attention to every franc and centime when on holiday. On the contrary, treating yourself to something and relaxing at the same time is what gives the holiday its real purpose. But why should you, once you have arrived, spend money unnecessarily on very mundane things that you could easily have brought from home?
Quite a few vacation spots, whether in Switzerland, around the Mediterranean Sea or further away, are known for the fact that the supposedly everyday things are expensive and thin out the vacation budget. Anyone who has ever been forced to buy sunscreen with a high sun protection factor in a Spanish or Italian seaside resort knows what is meant. The arm bands for the children that were left at home or the mosquito repellent that didn’t make it into your luggage also have a huge impact on the money if you have to buy them at the holiday destination.
...and also the nervous one
But we don't want to exaggerate the financial aspect - after all, it's also about being able to go on vacation in a relaxed manner. And that works all the better if you don't have to keep in mind that you have to get all sorts of things right after you arrive. The less stress you have on your nerves, the more pleasant the journey, arrival and the first few days you spend there.
But above all, the long-planned preparation will be much easier if you make a checklist for summer trips. Of course, you will not need every single one of the products listed, nor does this compilation claim to be complete. But there are bound to be some products among them that are otherwise easy to forget.
Take the medicine chest with you
Quite apart from appropriate clothing or the usual personal hygiene items, it's often simple things like sunglasses that fall through the cracks when packing. If you notice that after a two-hour drive, you're in big trouble - and if the sun is dazzling... Wound ointment, cold preparations, painkillers, a clinical thermometer, plasters and disinfectant spray don't take up much space in your luggage and can also be really expensive at the holiday destination.
Of course, when traveling by train or plane, space is limited and you have to do without a few things. At least your passports, vaccination cards, credit cards, driver's licenses, travel documents, charging cables and smartphones are essential if you have to limit yourself. In this case, you can read a checklist in a different way: What do I really need on vacation?
