You've probably heard of the yo-yo effect in connection with losing weight. In principle, the point is that people who have achieved their desired weight through painful sacrifices while losing weight tend to reward themselves after achieving this goal: with pizza, sweets and fat. It goes without saying that the weight display on the scales then quickly swings back up.
Eating consciously sometimes means sinning
It has long been proven that conscious nutrition is much more efficient than simply doing without. And that completely stopping all fun foods doesn't exactly increase the motivation to lose weight. A good way to avoid giving up completely is to make your favorite foods a little healthier – for example using spelled flour instead of wheat flour in your homemade pizza.
And maybe it doesn't have to be the entire pack of cheese spread that comes on top when topping? Half should be enough. If you don't want to do without desserts either, it is advisable to replace the refined sugar with agave syrup, for example. That being said, a fruit platter for dessert helps with digestion better than chocolate pudding, not to mention the calories.
Sweets shouldn't be taboo
That doesn't mean that chocolate & Co. are forbidden. But here, too, more conscious eating is a viable option: chew the pieces well and take your time eating them, this increases the enjoyment and reduces the craving for more. In this way, you can also manage to stop snacking every day or at any time of the day.
Swimming, weight training or jogging - all types of sport are initially helpful as part of a diet. Then the stomach reports, which is quite normal. A delicate moment: Don't give in to cravings, but try to satisfy the feeling of hunger with nutritious and protein-rich foods. Protein bars are a good choice, but so are bananas or shakes that contain protein. This is how you refill the glucose stores and the muscles recover.
What about alcohol?
It is obvious that regular or even high alcohol consumption does not exactly help if you have set yourself the goal of losing weight. But here, too, it is true that the absolute renunciation simply makes no sense. Constantly thinking about your own weight reduces your zest for life, and that's exactly what you need when fighting the pounds. Especially on special occasions you should be able to forget about five.
If you are visiting friends or throwing a party, moderate alcohol consumption is perfectly fine. And on such an evening, don't be too hard on yourself when it comes to eating, but rather enjoy. The important thing is that it doesn't become a habit. This also applies to fast food and sweets - you should exercise discipline again in the following days.
