But: is that justified? What can these products do?

Anti-aging is more than a fad

The dream of eternal life is just as legitimate as the desire for children or a financially carefree existence. Who are we to judge the wishes of others? Secretly, however, and that is what makes the human species so unique, of course we all secretly know that our hour will come one day. So it is all too understandable if we want to postpone this point in time a little.

Exercise and eating well are two factors that have been shown to help with this endeavor. Because those who live healthier usually live longer. On the other hand, the effects of so-called anti-aging products are hardly life-prolonging, so the name is of course misleading. But these articles can have a positive effect on our skin, if the advertising is to be believed. But is that also true?

What anti-aging products do to the skin

Our true age can usually be read just as easily on our skin as on our birth certificate, to put it figuratively. Because the old wisdom that the skin remembers everything, even the smallest sunburn, is not untrue. The same applies to the skin of the face. Age and lifestyle can also be read from it, at least to a certain extent.

Anti-aging creams cannot really cover up old age, but rather ensure that the skin gets what it needs. Well-cared for skin automatically looks younger than unkempt skin. But what do the creams do to the skin that other products do not? The first thing to mention here is the replenishment of the moisture reservoir. Commercially available face creams tend to focus on the short-term supply of moisture, while anti-aging preparations fill the stores lastingly. This is sustainable and undoubtedly rejuvenates the skin.

Protection against harmful radiation

If the skin's moisture storage is full, this has another positive effect. The moisture has the effect that even harmful UV radiation can be repelled better. This keeps the skin firmer and wrinkles are not so easy either. One of the main problems with our skin is that the older we get, the less collagen the body produces. But collagen is extremely valuable for the skin.

It is for this reason that antiaging items contain collagen. This protein strengthens the skin and prevents it from losing tension or even becoming brittle.
