Clean the floorboards and parquet perfectly
The most important points in brief
- People have been using wooden floors since they started building houses.
- Today we primarily associate planks and parquet with a beautiful living atmosphere.
- So that we can enjoy wooden floors for a long time, we should pay attention to a few things when cleaning and caring for them.
- So how do we clean parquet and floorboards in the best possible way?
Parquet and plank floors give a room a wonderful living atmosphere. These are extremely popular floors that people have been using for a long time. Due to their natural warmth and the ability to regulate humidity, floorboards and parquet create a great indoor climate. But what is the ideal way to clean these floors?
Never use too much water
Of course you can use the vacuum cleaner for everyday cleaning. Make sure that you always use the setting for smooth floors, which can be made on the nozzle. It is best to rub away stains on the wood by hand with a damp cloth. If you want to wipe through, always use a damp cloth, never a wet one. When the soil gets wet, the wood usually swells.
Another important point: never use detergents that are aggressive. If it contains alcohol, for example, the seal on the wooden floor will peel off over time. Automatic cleaning machines such as steam cleaners are of course also not a good idea. And only use cotton cloths and not microfibre cloths for wiping them through - the latter can scratch the wood.
Take care of parquet and floorboards properly
So much for cleaning floorboards and parquet, but of course we cannot avoid proper care with these floors. If you want to freshen up the wood, it is best to use soap with a very soft brush. There is a special wooden floor soap that not only cleans but also builds up the surface at the same time. After lathering, go over it again with care products - there are certain products that form a new protective layer for the floor when applied.
Whether floorboards or parquet: in many cases the wooden floor is sealed. In order to maintain this, you have to resort to special polishes. If a floor has dried out a bit, this can also be remedied. In the first step, treat the surface with a special cleaning agent for wood. Then use the floor oil and carefully apply it to the wooden planks using a cloth that is as soft as possible. Proceed step by step and give the planks or parquet sufficient time to dry out.
How do you remove signs of wear?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to completely prevent traces from appearing in wooden floors. Playing children, pets or a small stone in the sole cause scratches and bruises. Chair legs and table legs can also leave marks in the wood when they are moved. Make sure that it doesn't get that far with glued-on felt gliders. However, if there are a lot of scratches in the wooden floor, then all you can do is sand the floor. Then you have to give the parquet or the planks a new protection. To do this, paint, oil or glaze the floor after sanding. And your wooden floor is like new.
