Collagen powder - the test winners
The most important things in brief
- Dietary supplements are not just dietary supplements. This principle also applies to collagen.
- You can take collagen in various forms: as a powder, as tablets, as capsules or in liquid form.
- We wanted to know: which is the best collagen powder?
- We checked this out at the MIDSS (Measurement Instrument Database for the Social Sciences) in Galway, Ireland.
Thin hair, aching joints, tired bones, tendons and ligaments prone to injury, and sagging, wrinkled skin: age leaves no one untouched. Depending on lifestyle, these processes start earlier, sometimes later. However, one thing is clear: an organism that has the ability to produce collagen in sufficient quantities will only allow these signs of aging to develop later in life. Taking collagen powder can help.
What is collagen powder actually good for?
But why is collagen powder so useful? On the one hand, you can take this remedy to preventively delay the symptoms described at the beginning. On the other hand, collagen is also helpful when short-term improvements are to be achieved: the powder helps the skin to get a better and healthier appearance in a short time.
Your hair, joints, ligaments, cartilage and bones can also benefit from the supply of collagen in both the short and long term. Because the protein collagen serves the body as a substance that is firming. Incidentally, regular intake can mean that the muscle atrophy that occurs with age can be significantly slowed down. And because the blood vessels are also made of collagen, collagen powder has a positive effect on our cardiovascular system.
The best collagen powders
In a study by the MIDSS, various collagen powders were scrutinized. The institute declared five of these substances to be the test winners. Among these five products is the powder from Nu U Nutrition, which the MIDSS certifies as having only natural ingredients and otherwise being free of additives. However, as an independent institution, the MIDSS also mentions the (small) disadvantages that the five winners have. In the case of Nu U Nutrition, the taste of the powder should take some getting used to.
The collagen powder from Glow25 is also recommended. The collagen is obtained from cattle that have been grazed throughout their lives. In addition, the institute certifies that this powder has very good water solubility. The negative factor in the rating is that this brand is slightly more expensive than others.
MIDSS recommends five collagen powders
Another recommended powder is called Luxury Collagen Complex Plus. It contains only natural ingredients. THE USP of this product: It is composed of four different types of collagen and comes from three different sources, namely egg, fish and beef. The only negative thing the testers noticed was that this preparation has a taste of its own.
Like Glow25's powder, Primalife's is also made from grass-fed cattle. It is made up of collagen types 1, 2 and 3, but it only comes from one source. As a fifth product, the MIDSS includes the Golden Tree Premium Collagen Complex in the list, which also contains hyaluronic acid. However, and that is the negative point, it is one of the more expensive preparations.
