How well do products against cellulite work?
The most important points in brief
- Many women are rightly annoyed by the ideal of beauty that advertising and some media convey these days.
- Nevertheless, most of them wish that the orange peel should disappear.
- Cellulite is of course harmless to health, but «woman» still wants to get rid of it.
- Only: How good are the anti-cellulite products really?
The term "orange peel" has become a euphemism for cellulite, and somehow it sounds so harmless. That is exactly the keyword: cellulite is actually harmless, it does not result in any damage to health. Nevertheless, it is only too easy to understand that most women want tighter skin instead of the dents that usually appear on the buttocks and legs.
What causes cellulite?
Orange peel is of course only visible on the surface, but the reasons for this are mostly hidden in the fatty tissue under the skin. Small bumps and knots can form there, which usually arise because the connective tissue is not tight enough. While anti-cellulite products may not be able to remove these lumps and bumps, it's ultimately a question of getting enough exercise; but at least most preparations can help to tighten the epidermis - i.e. the upper layer of skin - and make it feel soft and smooth.
Gels, creams and ointments are used. But the question remains how good the products actually are. Since the answer to this question is hardly feasible in general, the only thing left is that the products have to be tested individually. But what do the articles against cellulite do on your skin?
This is how anti-cellulite articles work
The surface structure of the skin is the zone in which cellulite becomes visible. There your skin is roughened and has dents. Because the causes of cellulite can in principle only be eliminated through regular exercise, the aids against cellulite have an effect where it is visible - namely on the surface.
The preparations contain substances that have a wide range of effects on the top skin cells. On the one hand, the mode of action should be lipolytic, i.e. counteract the accumulation of fat reserves and additionally activate the breakdown of already accumulated fat. In addition, they should promote the microcirculation of the blood in the cell tissue. These measures should ensure that the skin receives an improved protective barrier and can capture free radicals, and the skin structure should also be restored.
Effective ingredients against cellulite
Whether lotions, creams or oils: The decisive factor is not the physical state of a product, but the effectiveness of the ingredients. And here it has been shown that both caffeine and vitamin A (retinol) have very good effects on orange peel. But natural remedies such as chilli, birch leaf extract, ginger, various herbal extracts or peat earth are also well suited in this context.
Last but not least, glycerine and carnitine are also said to have a positive effect on cellulite. And in laboratories, substances are now produced using biotechnological methods that also combat orange peel on the surface.
In addition to the active ingredients, however, you should note another thing: Only regular use of the products really helps. The preparations should be used at least once a day, preferably twice. Massaging in works best when using circular motions, and exfoliating at the right time can help the anti-cellulite items work.
