KANELA SPONSORS SANDRO EHRAT - JOIN US!
The most important points in brief
- Currently Sandro Ehrat is number 7 of the Swiss & ATP number 392
- During his junior years and as a young professional, he achieved some successes, including a bronze medal at the European Summer Youth Olympic Festival in Belgrade in 2007.
- In 2015, Sandro Ehrat becomes a young father and has to put his career on hold in order to be able to finance his family as a tennis coach. In 2017 he becomes Swiss individual champion.
- He has been back on the ATP tour since 2019 and quickly made it to the top 300 in the world.
- But the Corona crisis and the cancellation of all tournaments in 2020 hit Sandro Ehrat hard. That's why Kanela stepped in as a sponsor.
Anyone who wants to make a living as a professional tennis player is dependent on the inaugural bonuses and prize money of the tournaments. At the largest competitions, namely the ATP Tour, the endowments are highest, below are the Challenger tournaments and below that are the prize money from the Future tournaments. The athletes need the money to cover travel and accommodation costs, to pay coaches, to raise court fees and of course to feed themselves. And the medical treatments also cost money. Sandro Ehrat says: «One year of professional tennis circuit costs around CHF 100,000.»
No tournaments without money - and vice versa
But what happens to players like Sandro Ehrat if there are no tournaments that are not at the top of the tennis circuit for a long time? So what if the competitions at the challenger and future level can no longer take place, as was the case at the height of the corona pandemic, when only the major events of the ATP tour were held? The calculation is as simple as it is bitter. No tournaments without money - and no income without tournaments.
Sandro experienced firsthand how it feels. After the promising start of his career, the Schaffhausen native had to work as a tennis coach as a young father from 2015, and in 2017, despite all the adversities, he became Swiss individual champion. He fights his way back on the tour, he plays future tournaments and due to good results he will soon be able to return to the Challenger level. In 2019 he even started for the Davis Cup team in Switzerland and sensationally defeated the Slovak Martin Klizan (at that time ATP world rankings 93). At the end of the year, Sandro was listed at number 286, his original goal was the top 500.
Corona is shaking everything
Because the corona pandemic is also depriving Sandro Ehrat of all opportunities to work as a professional tennis player and to attend smaller tournaments around the world, he was also unable to record any income in 2020. But professional sport lives not least from sponsorship - and we at Kanela are proud to be able to promote Sandro's talent and his family!
If you, as a private person or as an entrepreneur, are also interested in financially supporting one of the best Swiss tennis players, then that would be a great thing. Support Sandro Ehrat as a tennis professional, become a team member and accompany him on his way to the top!
After submitting the donation receipt, we at Kanela will be happy to send you a voucher code by email, which you can redeem on our website for all the products listed there. In addition, as a supporter you can win tennis rackets from Yonex, free tickets for tournaments or show matches, participation in the sponsors' dinner or free training hours with Sandro for as little as CHF 500.
Sandro Ehrat and the whole Kanela team look forward to your generous support!
