Remove small warts yourself
The most important points in brief
- Anyone who discovers small warts should be interested in getting rid of them as quickly as possible.
- But how can this be done?
- We present a few home remedies that are helpful for the common types of warts, but not always work 100 percent.
- You should only refrain from cutting yourself.
The term wart is commonly associated with severe, clearly visible changes in the skin, including the face. In books and films, the no-nonsense is often depicted with facial warts - but the wart is much more often just a small, harmless skin lesion that can be a little painful in a few cases. Warts are triggered by human papillomaviruses, or HPV for short, as well as infections or transmission through human contact.
General information about warts
So that means: warts are contagious (excluding the so-called age warts). In many cases, however, those infected with it only notice this after a few weeks, sometimes even months. Only then do the warts develop and become noticeable on the skin. In many cases, warts do not even develop because the immune system suppresses this impulse.
Children are often affected. This is because their immune systems have never had contact with warts. So when a child becomes infected with warts, the likelihood that warts will also develop is usually higher than that of adults. Warts are more likely to affect them if they lead an unhealthy lifestyle. Warts usually form on the hands and feet, on the cheeks, on the forehead, in the area of the mouth and in the genital area.
What types of warts are there?
The barbed wart mostly affects children, adolescents and adults, and it usually forms on the face, fingers or nails. Flat nipples are also more likely to affect children and girls than boys; they can be found in communal showers or in the sauna. It is noticeable on the back of the hand, on the shin, on the neck or on the face. The plantar wart forms on the foot and can be painful.
In swimming pools and saunas, dellar warts lurk, which mainly appear on the upper body, arm, hand or fingers. The genital or genital wart, on the other hand, usually develops in the genital or anal area or even on the sexual organs.
Home remedies - remove small warts yourself
But how do you get rid of those annoying companions? Sure, in worse cases you should go to the doctor directly. Often, however, home remedies can help or at least provide relief. So you can put an adhesive tape on the wart for about a week, soak it and ideally it can be filed off. A piece of garlic, stuck to a wart overnight with a plaster, releases juice into the wart and thereby fights it. Apple cider vinegar on a cotton wool pad can also help if you freshen it up twice a day and attach the pad with a plaster. So the warty area becomes soft over time and comes off by itself.
Incidentally, the softening of the affected area can also work at home if you apply a solution of lactic acid or salicylic acid for a while. During this time, the skin around the wart should be protected with a greasy cream, such as petroleum jelly.
Sometimes warts are itchy - don't give in or scratch. This can encourage the formation of more specimens on the skin.
