Solidarity instead of Black Friday: Kanela supports the Swiss Red Cross

During the pandemic, poverty, which is often hidden, has also become more visible in Switzerland. Many individuals and families have had to tighten their budgets even further and struggle to pay fixed costs such as rent. Unforeseen costs, such as a dentist's bill, quickly lead to debt.

Financial support for the disadvantaged on Solidarity Friday

November 26th is Black Friday again. On this day, bargain hunters are on the hunt for special offers. Unfortunately, even in relatively affluent Switzerland, there are many disadvantaged people for whom such discount campaigns in online shops are a luxury, people who have to think about more fundamental things. People who spin every penny and have to weigh up whether they can afford to spend any money beyond essential purchases.

These people worry when health problems cause financial damage, such as paying the dentist's bill or the glasses they need for their child. For these people and their families, the Swiss Red Cross has launched the “SRK Individual Aid” campaign. This fundraising campaign supports people whose financial options are so limited that they cannot afford the cost of a doctor's visit.

Kanela supports the SRC and thus people in difficulties

For November 26th, the SRK has launched the “Solidarity Friday” campaign, that is, Friday in solidarity when Black Friday is in the foreground elsewhere. We at Kanela also show our solidarity with disadvantaged people and support the campaign by donating 10 percent of our daily income to "Solidarity Friday" of the individual aid SRK!

The Swiss Red Cross forwards the donations to individuals and families in Switzerland who cannot afford additional health costs such as a doctor's bill. Costs are covered if there is no legal entitlement to their remuneration and the financial resources of the people concerned have been exhausted.

Thanks to sponsorships and donations, the SRK Individual Aid is able to support more than 300 households affected by poverty with around CHF 235,000 each year. The SRK individual aid is aimed at maintaining and protecting the health of disadvantaged people. In addition, she would like to make a contribution to ensuring that people with a low income do not go into debt or become dependent on social welfare. The aid amounts received through Solidarity Friday will of course be used for a specific purpose.
