The best sports to lose weight
The most important points in brief
- If you do sport, you have to stay or get fit in the end.
- Sometimes, however, weight loss also plays a role.
- But what are the best sports for losing weight?
- Whichever discipline you choose - make sure not to overdo it at the beginning.
It is quite normal that we now and then struggle with our body and therefore also with our pounds. Sometimes we objectively have too much on our ribs, others feel uncomfortable just because of a few grams more. The reasons for wanting to lose weight are as individual as the enthusiasm for different sports. But what are the best disciplines to actually lose weight?
Motivation to do sport to lose weight is good, over-motivation is harmful
Before we get into each sport, we need to talk about something basic. It's about the drive, about the intrinsic motivation to want to do sports. There is no question that this is necessary to stay on the ball, after all, the pounds do not fall from a one-time jog in the nearby park. It takes some perseverance.
The problem here is often an excess of motivation. This means that you want too much at once, so that the display on the scales quickly shows the desired weight. However, this does not work, but at most causes you to overdo yourself. And that is neither good for the circulatory system nor for muscles, tendons and joints, which may not have experienced any sporting stress for a long time. So take into account with the sports presented immediately that less is no more, but a cautious approach may be gentler and more sustainable.
Swimming and cycling are efficient and easy on the joints
Swimming consumes a lot of calories if you do this sport regularly and persistently. And you train the muscles all over your body. When you start swimming, the breaststroke is the ideal discipline to get in, later you can switch to a different style. Swimming is therefore efficient, helps you lose weight in the long term - and is easy on the joints.
This also applies to cycling, either on the home trainer or outdoors in nature, where the fresh air is an additional plus. For burning off your pounds, cycling is an excellent option, again using almost all muscle groups in the body. When adjusting the saddle height, make sure that you do not have to straighten your legs when pedaling, otherwise the joint-friendly posture is perdu.
Nordic walking and jogging activate the metabolism and help you lose weight
If you don't have to pay too much attention to your joints, you can of course also try shoemaker's pony in sports. If the condition is not (yet) sufficient for a few jogging laps on the running track or in the park, Nordic walking is the perfect introduction. The cardiovascular system and metabolism get going and the calories burn by themselves. And with Nordic walking, the joints are still spared.
This is of course not the case with jogging, especially not when we have to run on asphalt. On the other hand, the calories tumble particularly well here - especially when we set a moderate pace. In this case, the fat stores are tapped as energy reserves - perfect for losing weight. If, on the other hand, you run fast, the organism falls back on the stored carbohydrates and thus on the reserves that you only consumed with the last meal.
Of course, gymnastics, fitness training and aerobics are great sports to burn calories. These have the advantage that you hardly need more than some space in the living room - and the self-discipline to exercise them regularly.
