What are the best heat packs?
The most important points in brief
- Warmed up in the oven or in the microwave, heat pillows promise a good healing of pain.
- Heat pillows are often used to relieve tension, lumbago or back pain.
- The pillows are usually filled with grape seeds, cherry stones, lavender or grain.
- But which heat packs are really recommended?
Do you often suffer from tension in the muscles, especially in the neck or shoulders? You know back pain inside out and don't know what to do about it? Or do you have lumbago that you want to treat acutely and you know that warmth is good? Then heat pillows are always a good idea.
The advantages of heat cushions
Heat cushions are ideal because they can simply store heat for a long time. In addition, there is no risk of the pillow leaking and scalding yourself with hot liquid, as is the case with a hot water bottle. It is also very easy to use, and a heat pad can be heated in the oven or, even better, in the microwave in no time at all.
The effect is quick - and when it comes to money, heating pillows are more than affordable. Last but not least, the pillows not only help with joint or muscle pain, but also with stomach ache, menstrual cramps or a bladder infection. If the heating fails at home and it is correspondingly cold, then a warming pillow under the blanket is a great option to warm up quickly.
Cherry stone pillows are best
A number of tests have shown that pads filled with cherry stones are the best heat packs. Cherry pits absorb heat quickly and store it for a long time. It doesn't matter whether you want to heat the pillow in the oven or in the microwave, both methods are suitable for the cherry stones. The cherry stone pillow can of course be used in any region of the body.
A grape seed pillow is in no way inferior to the cherry stone pillow, it just has a finer grain and thus adapts to certain parts of the body a little better - it stores the food well, but not quite as efficiently as one filled with cherry stones Pillow is able to.
The cushions can also be filled with grain, lavender and moor
If you imagine the beneficial effects of a mud bath, it is hardly surprising that a warmed up moor pillow can also have a very pleasant effect. Usually the pillow is warmed up in a water bath or in the microwave. But warming pillows filled with rapeseed or spelled kernels also have a good effect. If you also want a nice scented aroma, you can warm a lavender pillow.
The moor cushion should be a maximum of 55 degrees. You can heat a pillow filled with grain kernels (spelled, rapeseed, wheat, rye, etc.) more, but the kernels themselves do not keep the heat as long as cherry or grape kernels.
The cleaning of heat cushions
For cleaning, the pillows must be completely cooled and dried. Remove the cover to clean the pillow on a gentle cycle (30 degrees) in the washing machine without detergent. You can also remove the cover by hand and use water without detergent. In any case, after cleaning, it is important that you wait until the pillow is completely dry before using it again.
