What can be done against blemished skin?
The most important points in brief:
- Often times, stress and an unhealthy diet are to blame
- Impure skin is not a skin type
- pH-neutral products help
- Pimples and blackheads are clogged pores
For many of us, puberty begins with the problem of blemished skin. Some get small pimples that go away on their own and others suffer from severe acne. This is mainly due to the hormonal changes. But not only adolescents of puberty suffer from blemished skin. Often adults still suffer from it. The hormonal balance can be to blame for this, among other things: Stress and an unhealthy diet are often (partly) to blame for blemished skin. Other factors can also be genetic predispositions, incorrect skin care, discontinuation of the pill or medication. However, with the right care routine, blemished skin can be counteracted:
- Don't mess around! Even if there is some temptation and it is difficult; but pimples are best not to be squeezed out by yourself. The risk of scars and further inflammation forming is great.
- Instead of trying the latest care products, use pH-neutral products to cleanse the face. Washing too often can make the skin even worse, so it shouldn't be cleaned too often.
- Fatty or oily creams clog pores and should be avoided. These products make blemished skin even more favorable.
- It is best not to put your hands in your face as there are bacteria on your hands.
- A healthy diet and plenty of fluids (water) can also have a positive effect on the complexion of your skin.
Pimples are not just blackheads
Often the words pimples and blackheads are used to refer to the same thing. But be careful; a distinction must be made here. If you suffer from black spots on your skin, they are clogged pores, so-called blackheads. There are often blackheads on the forehead and nose.
A pimple is also a clogged pore. The bacteria in the skin can cause superficial inflammation, which then forms a pimple.
Difference between oily and dry skin
Essentially, a distinction must also be made as to whether the skin is oily or dry. This is especially important for the correct treatment of blemished skin that can occur with all skin types. With dry skin, the complexion appears dull and rough. Furthermore, the skin tightens and flakes and it can lead to reddened areas. With oily skin, on the other hand, the complexion shines due to the excess sebum.
