What helps against hyperacidity?
The most important points in brief
- The acid-base balance is very important in the body.
- If this household is imbalanced, then the body gets into problems and the organism over-acidifies.
- Mostly a wrong diet is the cause.
- In addition to a few dietary supplements that can level out the acid-base balance, the main thing is to change your diet.
If you know which foods lead to acidity in the organism, then it should be easy to do without them, you might think. And eat more alkaline foods instead. But that is often easier said than done, and more on that later. Because not only the intake of certain foods triggers acidification.
The causes of hyperacidity
Let's stay with the food for now. This shows that it is precisely animal products that can lead to acidification. Anyone who eats a lot of meat, cheese, other dairy products, eggs and fish, for example, has an increased risk that the acid-base balance tends to become too acidic. Surprisingly, rice, grain, bread, flour or oat flakes are also included. It is not surprising that lemonade, cola and beer also fall into this category.
But too much sport can also lead to hyperacidity. You can tell that, for example, when the muscles are really burning and then very tired, i.e. when you are powerless. Factors such as smoking, a lot of alcohol, lack of exercise, stress, medication and bad environmental influences can intensify the effects caused by hyperacidity.
What can lead to acidosis?
The powerlessness is generally a big issue with over-acidification of the body. Fatigue and discomfort with joints and bones can also be symptoms, as can internal tension such as nervousness, restlessness and imbalance. A low resilience and resistance and decreasing elasticity of the skin and connective tissue can also be the consequences.
If you don't combat over-acidification, it can have long-term effects. Osteoporosis and allergies are still the more harmless variants, compared at least with other conceivable consequences such as arteriosclerosis, diabetes, gout, rheumatism, kidney and gallstones, neurodermatitis, heart disease and even cancer.
Detect excess acidity and rebalance acid-base balance
As a rule, a urine test is sufficient, which has to be repeated over a certain period of time - usually a few days. If the average pH value is below 7.0 during this period, then there is over-acidification. Now you should take countermeasures immediately. First, think about being active without overdoing it, getting enough exercise, going to the sauna, and drinking enough water. This enables the first effects to be achieved.
Basically, however, and this is indisputable, you will very likely also have to change your diet. If you eat a lot of sausage, meat, dairy products and the other foods mentioned above, then you have to change that. By the way, sweets, coffee, products made from white flour and the otherwise healthy legumes are also among the foods that you have to reduce.
Instead, your body now needs base-forming food. As far as drinks are concerned, unsweetened tea is fine in addition to water. In the future, a solid diet should largely consist of vegetables, potatoes, lettuce, sprouts, fruit and mushrooms in order to balance the acid-base balance. Once this goal has been achieved, you should try to eat a balanced diet - from time to time acid-forming products and sweets are of course allowed, but on the whole you should continue to value base-forming foods.
