What is yoga really good for?
The most important points in brief
- From yoga we know in general that the body becomes more flexible and the muscles experience a whole new kind of stress.
- But is that all? Somehow there must be more to it.
- And indeed: Yoga is much more beneficial than you would have thought.
- Find out here what other positive effects from Indian philosophical teaching, which includes a series of mental and physical exercises, can have on you.
Until not so long ago, yoga was a little ridiculed in our latitudes, and some even dismissed it as a Far Eastern fantasy. Today, however, we know that yoga is not only - as was mistakenly assumed for a long time - something similar to stretching exercises, but that this teaching is physically demanding and makes you really fit and flexible. And this fitness has a lot of other advantages.
Yoga: more concentration and patience
Do you sometimes find yourself having to read a few lines in your book or in the newspaper more often? Then a lack of concentration could be a reason. In yoga, you learn to focus, namely: on breathing. Once you have internalized this, concentration is soon no longer a problem. As soon as you notice in everyday life that there is a lack of focus, you just close your eyes and think about the breathing technique - and the body remembers what you learned in yoga and you concentrate better.
The second benefit is closely related. Those who can focus live in the here and now and don't wander around with their thoughts so quickly. It is a celebration of the moment, i.e. the present. Impatience has no place and is therefore superfluous by itself.
Better intuition and a plus in creativity through yoga
In everyday life we mostly listen to our minds - and not always wrongly. The mind or the ability to think analytically sit in the left half of the brain, but too seldom do we use the right half, where intuition and creativity are at home. Through yoga we become calmer and, to a certain extent, learn to listen to ourselves and, where appropriate, to trust our intuition.
It is similar with creativity. But it's not just about how to fuel or bring to life the artistic vein that may be lying idle. So it doesn't necessarily mean visual arts when it comes to creativity. Rather, with yoga we can find solutions to problems in a creative way by thinking in an unusual way, some call it “out of the box”. We don't need an artistic disposition for this.
You can also strengthen your self-confidence with yoga
If you practice yoga regularly and often vary the exercises, you not only train the ability to focus, but also build strength and an inner balance. This is the ideal prerequisite to be able to build more self-confidence and self-confidence.
In addition, yoga has many other great effects. For example, you can detox your body, bring your hormonal balance into balance and with certain exercises you can also ensure that you feel more down to earth and "down to earth" after a short time if you can achieve a good flow of energy through yoga.
