What to do with a hangover?
The most important points in brief:
- Nausea and headaches are just a few of the possible symptoms
- Eat enough carbohydrates and fatty foods before the party
- Fresh air, salty food and lots of water can help
As much fun as partying can be, most of them suffer the day after. Especially when enough alcohol has been drunk. Nausea, headaches and bad breath are just a few of the possible side effects after a long night of partying. In addition to the tips that will help with a hangover, it is also about preparing accordingly before celebrating. This can sometimes help you feel a little better than usual the day after.
What must be considered before the extensive celebration?
Be sure to consume carbohydrates before partying. Fatty foods such as burgers, pizza or pasta slow down the absorption of alcohol in the blood. Alcohol removes salt and valuable minerals from the body. Salty snacks help restore the minerals that the alcohol has deprived of. What else is there to consider?
- Make sure that you drink a glass of water after every glass of alcohol.
- It is best to stick to the same drink throughout the evening and avoid drinking many different drinks, because that will take its toll the day after.
Of course there are also evenings and nights when you forget all your good intentions and you don't know how to survive the next day. The following tips can be useful for coping with the hangover:
- Exercise in the fresh air stimulates the circulation again and reduces discomfort and dizziness.
- Even with a hangover: eat salty. The salts and minerals removed from the alcohol can then be returned to the body.
- Above all, tea helps to calm down the stomach a little. If you still have a sensitive stomach from the previous evening, chamomile tea is recommended, which is gentle on the stomach.
- Peppermint oil also helps if you still have a slightly dim head. The oil can be lightly massaged onto the forehead and neck.
- In addition to mouthwash, bad breath can also be neutralized with parsley leaves, which you have to chew for a moment.
- Ginger is not only useful against unpleasant bad breath, but also stimulates the immune system and the circulation.
If all the tips do not help to relieve the tedious hangover feeling, then in the worst case scenario, a headache tablet can be used. It should be noted that paracetamol, as a pain reliever, is broken down in the liver by the same enzyme as alcohol, which in turn can, among other things, slow down the breakdown of alcohol.
