Which cleanser is best for the face?
The most important things in brief:
- The face is the only area of the body that is nonstop unprotected
- Air pollution, sun or even touching your face with unwashed hands put additional strain on the skin
- An optimal facial cleansing consists of two steps: cleansing and clarifying
- Every skin type needs a different cleansing
Compared to other parts of the body, the face is the only area that is nonstop uncovered or protected. Air pollution or the sun always take over the face. We also touch our face with our hands several times a day, which transports more dirt to our face. In addition, if required, make-up, which is sometimes even applied several times a day. Proper and thorough facial cleansing is all the more important.
Nowadays there are endless products such as facial cleansing gels, wipes or milks. But what is the difference and which cleansing suits which skin type best? We would like to share with you what we consider to be the most important facial cleansing tips:
In two steps to optimal facial cleansing
An optimal facial cleansing always consists of two steps. First you cleanse your face and then you clear it. Apply the cleansing product in circular movements, then it is recommended to pat the skin dry. After cleaning comes the clarification, which can be done with a facial tonic. The facial tonic is intended to strengthen and strengthen the skin. After clearing, the skin can absorb care products such as a day cream.
- Normal skin: washing gels or cleansing milk can be used for normal skin. Cleaning cloths, such as microfiber cloths, which are specially made for cleaning the face, can also be used.
- Oily skin: If you suffer from oily skin, which often includes blackheads and pimples, foaming cleansing creams or antibacterial cleansing gels without oil are recommended. It is also important here that attention is paid to the pH value and that it is tailored to the skin.
- Sensitive skin: Cleansing milk without fragrances or alcohol with soothing ingredients is ideal.
- Dry skin: Avoid products that contain alcohol as they can dry out the skin further.
Cleaning wipes are becoming more and more popular, especially when travelling, it is useful to have a resealable pack of cleaning wipes with you. However, cleaning cloths should be used with caution; When opening and closing the pack, germs can get into the wipes, which could be problematic for the skin. Since the face is not washed off with water with cleaning wipes, this is not entirely unproblematic. It is also advisable to ensure that cleaning cloths are recyclable.
Facial cleansing should always be gentle, regardless of skin type. Important: soap is suitable for washing hands, but not for the skin on the face. Soap can change the pH value of the skin and disturb the natural protective acid mantle.
