b.) Contacting us / What we use personal data for
If you contact us via our contact details and channels (e.g. by email, telephone, or contact form), your personal data will be processed. The data you provide to us will be processed, such as your company name, your name, your position, your email address or telephone number, and the purpose of your inquiry. In addition, the date and time the inquiry was received will be documented.
We process this data exclusively to address your request (e.g., providing information about a product, assisting with contract processing, such as returning products, incorporating your feedback into the improvement of our services, etc.). The legal basis for this data processing is our legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the EU GDPR in addressing your request or, if your inquiry concerns the conclusion or performance of a contract, the necessity of carrying out the required measures within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b of the EU GDPR.
c.) To whom we disclose personal data
Without the support of other companies, Kanela AG would not be able to provide the service in the desired form. In order to use the services of these companies, it is also necessary to disclose your personal data to a certain extent. Such disclosure takes place in particular insofar as it is necessary to fulfill the contract you requested, for example to logistics or transport companies that deliver the desired products, or to a manufacturer responsible for fulfilling your warranty claim. For these disclosures, the legal basis is the necessity of processing the data for the performance of the contract within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b of the EU GDPR.
Data is also disclosed to selected service providers, but only to the extent necessary to provide the service. Various third-party service providers are already explicitly mentioned in this privacy policy, for example in the sections on marketing. These include, among others, IT service providers (such as providers of software solutions), advertising agencies, and consulting firms. The legal basis for this data disclosure is our legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the EU GDPR in obtaining third-party services.
Furthermore, your data may be disclosed, in particular to authorities, legal advisers, or debt collection agencies, if Kanela AG is legally obliged to do so or if this is necessary to safeguard our rights, especially to enforce claims arising from our relationship with you. Data may also be disclosed if another company intends to acquire Kanela AG or parts thereof and such disclosure is necessary to conduct due diligence or complete the transaction. The legal basis for this data disclosure is our legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the EU GDPR in safeguarding our rights and fulfilling our obligations or selling our company.
d.) Transfer of personal data abroad
Kanela AG is entitled to transfer your personal data to third parties abroad if this is necessary to carry out the data processing activities specified in this privacy policy. If the country concerned does not provide an adequate level of data protection, Kanela AG ensures through contractual arrangements that your data is adequately protected by these companies.
e.) Retention periods
Kanela AG stores personal data only for as long as necessary to carry out the processing described in this privacy policy as part of our legitimate interest. For contractual data, storage is required by statutory retention obligations. The requirements obliging us to retain data arise from accounting regulations and tax law provisions. Under these provisions, business communications, concluded contracts, and accounting records must generally be retained for up to ten years. Once Kanela AG no longer needs this data to provide services to you, the data is blocked. This means that the data may then be used only where necessary to fulfill retention obligations or to defend and enforce our legal interests. The data is deleted as soon as there is no longer any retention obligation or legitimate interest in retaining it.

By activating IP anonymization (“anonymizeIP”) on this website, the IP address is truncated before transmission within the member states of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA, where it is truncated.

Cookies
Cookies are information files that your web browser stores on your computer’s hard drive or in its memory when you visit kanela.ch. Cookies are assigned identification numbers that identify your browser and allow the information contained in the cookie to be read.
Among other things, cookies help make your visit to kanela.ch easier, more pleasant, and more meaningful. We use cookies for various purposes that are required for the use of the website you desire, i.e. are “technically necessary.” For example, we use cookies to identify you as a registered user after you log in, without requiring you to log in again each time you navigate to different subpages. The shopping cart and ordering functions are also based on the use of cookies. Cookies also perform other technical functions required to operate the website, such as load balancing, i.e. distributing the site's performance load across various web servers to relieve the servers. Cookies are also used for security purposes, for example to prevent unauthorized posting of content. Finally, we also use cookies in the design and programming of our website, for example to enable scripts or code to be uploaded.
The legal basis for this data processing is our legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the EU GDPR in providing a user-friendly and modern website.
Most internet browsers accept cookies automatically. However, when you access our website, we ask for your consent to the technically unnecessary cookies we use, particularly when third-party cookies are used for marketing purposes. You can select your preferred settings using the corresponding buttons in the cookie banner. Details about the services and data processing associated with the individual cookies can be found in the cookie banner and in the following sections of this privacy policy. We use third-party services for retargeting and banner advertising that place cookies on our website. These providers are: Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA; https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/
You may also be able to configure your browser so that no cookies are stored on your computer or so that you are always notified when you receive a new cookie. The following pages provide explanations of how to configure cookie processing in selected browsers.
Disabling cookies may mean that you cannot use all the functions of our website.
Social Media
On our website, we have included links to our profiles on the social networks of the following providers:
- Meta Platforms Inc., 1601 S California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA,
- Instagram Inc. 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA.
When you click the icons of the social networks, you will be automatically redirected to the Kanela profiles on the respective network. This establishes a direct connection between your browser and the server of the respective social network. The network thereby receives the information that you visited our website with your IP address and clicked the link.
If you click a link to a network while logged in to your user account on that network, the content of our website may be linked to your profile, allowing the network to directly associate your visit to our website with your account. If you wish to prevent this, you should log out before clicking the relevant links. A connection between your access to our website and your user account will in any case be established if you log in to the relevant network after clicking the link. The respective provider is the party responsible under data protection law for the associated data processing. Please therefore consult the information on the network's website.
The legal basis for any data processing attributable to us is our legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the EU GDPR in using and promoting our social media profiles.
Social Media Plugins
You can use social plugins from the providers listed below on our website:
- Meta Platforms Inc., 1601 S California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA, Privacy information
The kanela.ch domain uses social plugins to make it easier for you to share content from our website. The social plugins help us increase the visibility of our content on social networks and thus contribute to better marketing.
The plugins are deactivated by default on our websites and therefore do not send any data to the social networks when a website on the kanela.ch domain is merely accessed. To enhance data protection, we have integrated the plugins in such a way that a connection to the networks’ servers is not established automatically. Only when you activate the plugins and thereby give your consent to the transmission and further processing of data by the social network providers does your browser establish a direct connection to the servers of the respective social network.
The content of the plugin is transmitted directly from the social network to your browser and embedded by the browser into the website. As a result, the respective provider receives information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have an account with this social network or are not currently logged in. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted directly from your browser to a server of the provider (usually in the USA) and stored there. We have no influence over the extent of the data collected by the provider through the plugin, although, from a data protection perspective, we may be considered jointly responsible with the providers to a certain extent.
If you are logged in to the social network, it can directly assign your visit to our website kanela.ch to your user account. If you interact with the plugins, the corresponding information is also transmitted directly to a server of the provider and stored there. The information (e.g. that you like a product of Kanela AG) may also be published on the social network and, under certain circumstances, displayed to other users of the social network. The social network provider may use this information for the purpose of serving advertisements and tailoring its offering to users’ needs. For this purpose, usage, interest and relationship profiles could be created, e.g. to evaluate your use of our website with regard to the advertisements displayed to you on the social network, inform other users about your activities on our website, and provide further services associated with the use of the social network. Please refer directly to the privacy notices of the respective provider for information on the purpose and scope of data collection and the further processing and use of data by social network providers, as well as your related rights and settings options for protecting your privacy.
If you do not want the social network provider to associate the data collected through our website with your user account, you must log out of the social network before activating the plugins. For the data processing described, your consent within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a of the EU GDPR constitutes the legal basis. You may withdraw your consent at any time by declaring your withdrawal to the plugin provider in accordance with the information in its privacy policy.
Data privacy and data security
Kanela AG uses appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data stored by us against loss and unlawful processing, in particular unauthorized access by third parties. In addition, these persons are granted access to personal data only to the extent necessary to perform their duties.
Kanela AG's security measures are continuously adapted in line with technological developments. However, transmitting information over the Internet and electronic communications media always entails certain security risks, and we too cannot provide an absolute guarantee for the security of information transmitted in this way.
Log file data (log files)
When you visit our website, the servers of kanela.ch temporarily store every access in a log file. The following data is collected without any action on your part and stored by us until it is automatically deleted:
- the IP address of the requesting computer,
- the date and time of access,
- the name and URL of the file accessed,
- the website from which access took place, including any search term used,
- your computer's operating system and the browser you use (including type, version, and language settings),
- the type of device in the case of access via mobile phones,
- the city or region from which access took place,
- the name of your Internet access provider.
This data is collected and processed for the purpose of enabling use of our website (establishing a connection), ensuring the long-term security and stability of the system, analysing errors and performance, and enabling us to optimise our website.
In the event of an attack on the website's network infrastructure or if another unauthorised or abusive use of the website is suspected, the IP address and other data will be analysed for investigation and prevention and, where appropriate, used as part of criminal proceedings to identify the users concerned and take civil and criminal legal action against them.
Our legitimate interest in data processing for the purposes described above is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the EU GDPR.
Finally, when you visit our website, we use cookies as well as applications and tools based on the use of cookies. In this context, the data described here may also be processed. Further information can be found in the following section.

Data security
a.) Security measures
Kanela AG takes appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised processing and to ensure the confidentiality, availability and integrity of your personal data. These measures are intended to protect the personal data on Kanela AG's systems in particular against the following risks:
Unauthorised or accidental destruction, accidental loss, technical errors, forgery, theft, unlawful use, as well as unauthorised alteration, copying, access or other unauthorised processing. Kanela AG also ensures an appropriate level of protection and security for personal data when disclosing it to affiliated companies or service providers in Switzerland and abroad.
In particular, Kanela AG uses SSL encryption (Secure Socket Layer) as a standard security measure. When you place an order for goods in our online shop, personal data is transmitted to us. The SSL procedure protects data that a customer sends over the internet to a company's server. SSL provides threefold protection
The data intended for transmission is encrypted;
It is ensured that the form is sent back only to the server from which it was opened; and
It is checked whether the data reaches its respective recipient completely and unchanged.
You can identify SSL-protected areas by the padlock symbol in your browser. Secure connections can generally be recognized by the address beginning with "https://". If you double-click the padlock symbol, you will receive more information about the security certificate.
b.) Notice of General Risks
Please note that the Internet is generally not considered a secure environment and that data transmitted via the Internet may be accessible to unauthorized third parties, which can lead to the disclosure of such data, changes to the information content, or technical disruptions. Despite extensive technical and organizational security measures, data may be lost or intercepted and/or manipulated by unauthorized persons. As a user, you are responsible for informing yourself about the necessary security measures and taking appropriate action in this regard. If you send us confidential information, you do so at your own risk. If you consider it appropriate in a particular case, we ask that you contact us through a secure data transmission channel instead of via the Internet.
c.) Public Posts
Posts made publicly available in any discussion forums or guest books that we may operate on our websites are accessible to everyone. Before publishing your posts, you should carefully check that they do not contain any information not intended for the public. You must expect that your posts may, for example, be indexed by search engines and become accessible worldwide even without anyone specifically accessing our site. We cannot guarantee or accept liability for whether or to what extent such entries are stored, used, or distributed by third parties.
d.) Harmful Components
Kanela AG assumes no responsibility and provides no guarantee that its website and other components used when accessing the website are free of viruses, worms, Trojan horses, or other harmful elements. In addition, Kanela AG disclaims all liability for unauthorized manipulation of the Internet user's IT system. Kanela AG expressly draws attention to the risk of targeted hacking attacks.
To combat viruses, we recommend using up-to-date browser versions and installing continuously updated antivirus software. As a general rule, you should refrain from opening emails from unknown sources and unexpected email attachments.
