Strengthens the body, relieves cramps (e.g., during PMS), and promotes relaxation.

The blackthorn thrives on sunny hills and in dry, open deciduous forests with deep, calcareous soil. This black shrub, which grows up to 3 m tall and has side shoots that have turned into thorns, blooms from March through April. Even before the leaves appear, the small white flowers—which scent of sweet-tart, delicate bitter almond—emerge so densely along the entire length of the short shoots that the entire shrub is dotted with white. Inspired by this splendor of blossoms, the shrub appears like little white clouds in the landscape. Only after the flowers do the oval, serrated leaves develop, followed in late summer by the bluish-black fruits—reminiscent of small plums—with green, tart flesh. In the way the blackthorn carries out its life cycle, it expresses that it possesses strong life forces, which it does not so much reveal outwardly but rather preserves in a certain inwardness.

To manufacture Alpmed products, fresh wild plants are carefully harvested by hand from select meadows and forests in the Bernese Alps and the unspoiled countryside of Tuscany. This, combined with immediate processing, ensures that the plant-based and solar energies of living nature are infused into the mother tinctures and fresh plant oils.
