Well-crafted amber is not only a wonderful gemstone for jewelry. It is said to possess special healing properties. As early as 1822, Ersch and Gruber reported in their *Great Compendium of Knowledge* on the preparation of ointments and tinctures made from amber. According to their account, amber protects the wearer from gout and rheumatism, aids digestion, helps with asthma, and alleviates the pain associated with “teething in children.”

Important to note:

Amber necklaces should be rinsed regularly under cold, running water. Please keep the magnetic clasp dry, however. For safety reasons, it is recommended that small children wear the amber necklace around their ankle, under their onesie.
