Galactose occurs as a monosaccharide in the animal and plant kingdoms and is a type of hexose. The galactose found in glycoproteins and glycolipids is important for communication between cells. Galactose is a nutrient found in its natural form in various foods (primarily in dairy products, but also in smaller amounts in legumes, fruits, and vegetables). Galactose occurs as a monosaccharide in both the animal and plant kingdoms and belongs to the group of hexoses. It is a typical component of the sugar coat that covers every cell. Embedded in this sugar coat, it facilitates communication between cells. The galactose contained in glycoproteins and glycolipids is important for communication between cells. Biosana’s D(+) galactose acts independently of insulin and is therefore suitable for people with diabetes.

How is galactose produced?

Galactose is produced using gentle processes without chemical additives. In this process, milk sugar (lactose) from dairy products (e.g., whey) is broken down into its components, glucose and galactose. It can also be extracted from plant sources (legumes, larch).

The benefits of D(+) galactose:

Unlike its sister sugar, glucose (grape sugar, dextrose), galactose is insulin-independent and is therefore suitable for people with diabetes as well as those with lactose intolerance. It is easy to take and has a pleasant, slightly sweet taste.

Application

Dissolve 1 heaping teaspoon in a beverage 2–3 times a day.
