DAOSIN contains a protein extract from pork kidney that contains the enzyme diamine oxidase. Diamine oxidase is responsible for breaking down histamine from food in the intestines. Histamine occurs naturally in many foods. In people who suffer from histamine intolerance, this enzyme is either present in insufficient quantities or is not active enough. Foods containing histamine therefore trigger various unpleasant symptoms. When taken in combination with histamine-containing foods, the diamine oxidase from the protein extract breaks down the histamine from these foods in the digestive tract.

Application

• DAOSIN® should always be taken before a meal—ideally about 15 minutes beforehand—with a little water. By the time the histamine-containing foods from the meal reach the intestines, the tablet should have already dissolved and the DAO it contains should be active.
• The maximum daily dose is 3 tablets (equivalent to 3 meals containing histamine per day).
• The tablet should not be chewed before swallowing; instead, it should be swallowed whole so that its contents can pass through the stomach to the intestines intact.
