Instructions for Dyeing Easter Eggs
Preparation:
- Hard-boil the eggs and let them cool. White eggs work best for a more intense color.
Making dye bath:
- Add 20–30 g of chopped walnut shells to about 1 liter of water.
- Boil the mixture for 20–30 minutes, until it reaches the desired shade.
- Strain out the walnut shells and let the liquid cool slightly.
Dyeing the eggs:
- Place the hard-boiled eggs in the dye bath and let them soak for 10–30 minutes. For more intense colors, you can leave the eggs in the dye bath longer.
- Turn the eggs occasionally to ensure they are evenly colored.
Drying and Care:
- Carefully remove the eggs from the broth and let them dry on paper towels.
- For a nice shine, you can rub a little cooking oil into the dried eggs.
