This high fluid absorption and retention capacity reduces the risk of maceration. Mextra can be used for moderately to heavily exuding wounds, such as chronic wounds including leg ulcers, venous leg ulcers under compression bandages, and chronic wounds such as pressure ulcers. Mextra can be used together with primary dressings such as Mepitel, Mepitel One, fiber dressings, or Melgisorb Plus. Mextra has a water-repellent, breathable backing layer that protects against saturation. The backing layer prevents fluid from leaking through to the outside and protects clothing and bed linen from contamination.
