BREATHING PLAYS A CENTRAL ROLE IN YOGA

Breathing connects us to life. It is also directly linked to our emotions: stress or pain causes us to breathe shallowly and tensely, while on a walk in the woods, we breathe slowly and deeply and relax.

From a yogic perspective, breathing takes in not only oxygen but also prana, or life energy. Conscious breathing deepens and enhances physical practice. Energy is directed within the body to where it is needed. At the same time, focusing on the breath prevents the mind from wandering; the mind becomes calm and clear. Through the breath, body and mind become one.

In addition to physical exercises—the asanas—breathing exercises, known as pranayamas, are an important part of the yoga practice. There are energizing or calming pranayamas, cleansing breathing exercises, balancing alternate nostril breathing, and cooling or stress-reducing pranayamas. Through the autonomic nervous system, the type of breathing influences not only the body but also the mind.

The use of essential oils and hydrosols can further enhance the effects on the body and mind. PHYTOMED Yoga Sprays deepen breathing, focus energy, and help you relax and find your center.

Usage:

Simply spray a few spritzes into the air and enjoy the scent. Can also be used as a cleaning spray for your yoga mat. Spray the yoga mat and let it sit for a moment. No need to wipe it off. Test on an inconspicuous area first.
