What needs to be known about essential oils?

Essential oils are liquid, concentrated and complex extracts obtained from an aromatic plant or an organ of that plant such as flower, leaf, root, bark or fruit. Thus, an essential oil is the distilled essence of an aromatic plant. It is obtained by steam distillation ; there are different extraction methods (distillation, hydrodistillation, percolation, expression). A high quality essential oil is 100% natural, pure and holistic. It does not contain mineral oils, chemical emulsifiers, vegetable oils, alcohol or turpentine. Essential oils used in aromatherapy must come from certified botanical plants. To check this, you need to see ob the oil has two Latin names. It is also important to check from which part of the plant the essence is obtained. Different essences can be obtained from the same plant, depending on which organ or part of the plant is used.
