Lemongrass, also known as lemon grass, is a perennial, reed-like and strongly aromatic grass that is mainly cultivated in Asia and South America. The plant grows in dense clumps and can reach a height of up to 3 meters. It is characterized by its rough, long leaves, which exude an intensely fresh, clearly citrus-like fragrance and make lemongrass unmistakable.

In Asian, particularly Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, the fresh leaves are traditionally used as a spice rz and give dishes an invigorating freshness. Lemongrass essential oil is also valued in perfumery, where it is used for its clarifying, fresh scent and lends compositions a lively, citrusy lightness.
