Who is Regiovit Vitamin D3 2000 IU particularly suitable for?
All people with a confirmed vitamin D3 deficiency are advised to start treatment with a high dose of 1 drop daily! The dosage must not be exceeded. Only a doctor can adjust the dosage individually and prescribe it accordingly. If you are unsure, we recommend contacting a healthcare professional first.
Vitamin D3 supports
- the immune system
- the maintenance of bones and teeth
- the maintenance of muscle function
- the normal absorption and utilization of calcium
- cell division where normal vitamin D production is reduced
- people who spend little time outdoors
Vitamin D3 is naturally produced in the skin under the influence of UV rays. In our latitudes, sunlight during the winter months is not intense enough for sufficient vitamin D production.
We need sunlight so that our bodies can produce the vital vitamin D themselves. In Switzerland, both the intensity of sunlight and the duration of sunshine are reduced. The risk of vitamin D deficiency is particularly increased in winter, when clothing also covers the skin. However, a similar problem exists in summer, as sunscreen is used more frequently. As a result, hardly any vitamin D can be produced. We therefore recommend that all affected people supplement with vitamin D3 throughout the year.
How vitamin D is produced
Lanolin, or wool wax
Wool wax is produced in the sebaceous glands of sheep. It protects sheep from harsh weather and enhances the warming effect of the wool.
After shearing and before further processing, the wool must be washed; raw wool wax is obtained during this process. It is purified through repeated washing and melting. This is a recycling process, because if the wool wax were not recovered from the wash water, the water would require extensive treatment.
This method of obtaining lanolin has existed for a very long time; it was first described by the Greek physician Dioscurides in the 1st century AD. Even then, lanolin was used in creams and lotions because of its special properties.
The basic principle of extraction has remained unchanged to this day and has been practiced for several hundred years.
Lanolin, or wool wax, is structurally very similar to body tissue and also contains a great deal of cholesterol.
Just as cholecalciferol is formed from cholesterol in human skin when exposed to UV-B radiation, cholecalciferol is also produced in wool wax when exposed to UV-B-containing light—the process is identical and 100% natural.
