Garden cress is a fast-growing plant that is ideal for year-round cultivation indoors as well as growing in the garden. It has a pleasantly spicy, fresh flavour and a valuable nutritional profile containing calcium, iron, iodine and vitamin C. The tender seedlings and leaves add a distinctive touch to salads, sandwiches and many other dishes. Indoors, it can be sown all year round; outdoors, sow from March to September. Germination takes 4–10 days at 12–22°C.

Cover the seeds only lightly with soil. They can be grown both in pots and outdoors. Until germination, the seeds should be kept warm at temperatures above 15°C so that the seed coats fall away easily. Thanks to its rapid growth, garden cress is ideal for continuous harvesting and adding fresh flavour to the kitchen. It is also traditionally valued for its beneficial nutrients.
