The “Lunga di Napoli” pumpkin is an impressive, dark green culinary pumpkin with cylindrical fruits and bright orange flesh. The large pumpkins can weigh up to 15 kg and reach a length of approximately 50–60 cm. Despite its imposing size, this variety develops its full flavour only late in the season and impresses with its versatile uses in the kitchen. Sow directly outdoors from mid-May or start earlier in pots. Place 2 seeds per pot or sowing spot at a depth of approximately 3 cm. Germination takes 7–10 days at 15–25°C.

The warmth-loving “Lunga di Napoli” pumpkin prefers a sunny, warm location outdoors. From mid-May, plant the seedlings 1 × 2 m apart. After germination, keep only the strongest plant per pot or sowing spot. The variety has high nutrient and water requirements and develops particularly well on compost heaps. Ripe pumpkins can be stored at approximately 15–18°C for 3–4 months. With its distinctive shape, impressive size and aromatic flesh, this pumpkin is an attractive addition to any vegetable garden.
