The giant Kohlrabi “Superschmelz” impresses with its remarkable size while remaining pleasantly tender and buttery soft. Despite the large bulbs, this variety develops a delicate texture and mild flavour, making it versatile in the kitchen. Whether boiled, steamed, served as a vegetable side dish or used in savoury dishes, “Superschmelz” offers particularly high yields and a long harvest period thanks to its size.

Sow the seeds from April to May in propagators or a hotbed. Plant strong seedlings outdoors from mid-May. A spacing of 50x30cm allows the Kohlrabi to develop to a particularly large size, while wider spacing also produces correspondingly larger bulbs. For healthy growth, incorporate vegetable fertiliser before planting and again after the plants have established. Early sowings can initially be transplanted into 8cm pots.
