The chive seed mat makes growing plants especially easy without the tedious need to thin them out. Place the prepared seed mats directly on the soil in pots or at a sowing spot in the garden, press them down lightly, cover with a little soil and water regularly. Chives are a hardy, perennial herb and are valued for their delicate aroma as well as their natural vitamin C and carotene content. Sow indoors from March to April on a bright windowsill, or outdoors or on the balcony from April to August. Germination takes 10–14 days at 12–16°C.

The plants prefer a sunny to partially shaded location and should be watered and fertilised regularly. Indoors, a location that is as bright as possible is important so the stems can develop strongly. The seed mat is suitable for 4 pots with a diameter of 11cm or 4 sowing spots in the garden. Harvesting is possible from June to October, and year-round when grown indoors. The seeds should never be allowed to dry out during germination.
