Mauser Genfer Swiss Chard Seeds (5g)

‘Genfer’ stalk chard is a proven old variety with broad, snow-white ribs and a delicate flavour. Even when sown early, this variety develops late, allowing for a particularly long harvest period. Its striking stalks and versatile uses make ‘Genfer’ an attractive addition to the vegetable garden. Sow in a cold frame or directly outdoors. Germination takes 6–14 days at 15–18°C.

With direct sowing, thin the plants out in good time or transplant them from mid-May. Maintain a spacing of 40x40cm. For high yields, stalk chard requires good watering and an adequate supply of compost or regular applications of vegetable fertiliser. In a sheltered location, plants sown between mid-July and early August can even be overwintered, thereby providing an especially long harvest period.
