"Normal" chlorella is cultivated in open ponds. This results in hygienically questionable contamination by waterfowl, insects, bacteria, fungi other environmental tgifts and, above all, toxin-producing blue-green algae. Sanasis Chlorella Vulgaris is cultivated in powder form with spring water in glass tubes.

The cultivation

In 1999, the construction of Europe's largest microalgae Farm began here in Klötze. Just one year later, the first Chlorella vulgaris algae were cultivated in this globally unique facility. The innovative and patented cultivation methode was described at the time as a "technological quantum leap in the production of microalgae". Until then, microalgae had mainly been produced in open pond systems in Asia and America.

The entire cultivation process, from the first algae from our parent collection to the finished product, takes place here in Klötze and is therefore completely in our hands and certified in accordance with the international standards HACCP, GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, ISO 50001 and HALAL.

But how does it all work?

To begin with, our "aquariums in tube form" are filled with water. We obtain this from our own spring, which is fed from an artesian aquifer at a depth of over 45 meters. This is very pure water, which is also well mineralized.

Nutrients and an algae starter culture are then added and the algae begin to grow. The advantages of our 500 km long glass tube system are obvious: the algae are optimally supplied with sunlight, as there are no "dark zones", such as in the deeper layers of a pond, and external impurities do not reach the culture. When the algae is ready to be harvested, it is separated from the water by centrifugation, then gently dried and can be rzeaten or processed immediately.

Thanks to the many years of experience of our well-trained employees, the permanent controls by our in-house laboratory and the additional quality controls by external laboratories and authorities, we can ensure the exceptionally high quality of our products

We also conduct intensive research into ongoing process optimization and new applications for our products. In the last 5 years (2012-2017), we have been able to reduce electricity consumption per kg of algae produced by over a third and almost halve water consumption! And we now grow a good dozen different microalgae in addition to chlorella for a wide range of applications.
