A proper hiding place is an essential part of a natural terrarium. Without a safe hiding place and a place to sleep, reptiles and amphibians can easily develop stress, which can affect their well-being and appetite. The Exo Terra Big Rock offers reptiles, amphibians or invertebrates a safe place where they can sleep or hide. At the same time, the humid microclimate promotes thermoregulation and hydration and is helpful for the reptiles' natural shedding process. The unique hygroscopic properties of the ceramic material naturally regulate the humidity and temperature in the hide by absorbing moisture from the water reservoir and slowly releasing it again. Adequate humidity creates a healthy environment and helps to prevent respiratory infections.

This eco-friendly ceramic hide can be integrated into any type of terrarium and by adding moistened Exo Terra Forest Moss or Sphagnum Moss, the hide becomes an ideal egg-laying site for various species of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. The removable lid allows easy access to view the reptiles obor to remove an egg clutch for incubation. The Big Rock's water reservoir should be filled with water at all times to ensure that the microclimate maintains the optimum temperature and humidity for the animals (and their eggs). rz
