Microdacyn Wound Care is a ready-to-use wound irrigation solution containing activated (bubbling) oxygen. It is manufactured using Oculus Innovative Science’s patented Microcyn technology from ultrapure water and small amounts of NaCl.

Mechanism of action:

The active ingredient in Microdacyn 60 Wound Care—hypochlorous acid (HOCl)—utilizes a physical defense mechanism against pathogens to preserve the irrigation solution; which is also used by the body: Foreign bodies are not chemically removed, but rather destroyed through a purely natural, physical process. This ensures the sterility of Microdacyn 60 Wound Care even over the course of its use.

Nonspecific osmolysis:

Cell rupture: The hypotonic Microdacyn 60 Wound Care solution causes an increased flow of water into the cells to compensate for the osmotic gradient. This leads to osmolysis (nonspecific osmotic shock): the cells burst due to the increasing internal pressure.

Mechanical Effect of the Sterile Solution: Microdacyn 60 Wound Care:

The wound irrigation solution facilitates the mechanical removal of microorganisms and cell debris.
