Packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, the Medjool date is excellent for your health! It’s also a natural sweetener and an alternative to sugar. Enjoy it without moderation! The Medjool, the queen of dates, is a large, meaty, and juicy date. Historically native to Morocco, it has always been quite rare, especially since the late nineteenth century, when a fungal disease called Bayoud devastated the palm trees to such an extent that they disappeared entirely from Morocco. A few saplings that were transferred to the United States in time ensured the species’ survival. Israelis began cultivating them in the 1970s. The region was unaffected by Bayoud, so they became experts in growing them.
