Bepanthen Scar gel is used to treat fresh scars after wound closure as well as older scars (up to 2 years) after an injury, burn or operation. Scar-free wound healing is only possible with obsuperficial injuries. If only the epidermis is damaged, as with obsuperficial scratches or abrasions, the skin can regenerate completely. However, in the case of many bleeding injuries or operations, deeper layers of the skin are also affected. The damaged tissue must then be replaced, resulting in a scar. This scar tissue differs from healthy skin in that it lacks Talg and sweat glands, hair follicles and pigment cells. In addition, scar tissue is significantly less elastic than healthy skin and cannot retain sufficient moisture.

Application

• Treatment with the new Bepanthen®scar gel can begin after the wound has completely closed or when the scab has fallen off or the stitches have been removed. For optimum results, Bepanthen® Scar Gel should be applied twice daily for at least two months.
• Apply the silicone gel thinly to the scar at least twice a day.
• Do not use the massage roller until at least one month after wound closure, as the wound may still be too sensitive. Until then, please only use the scar gel!
• The massage technique is similar to the veins of a plant leaf: first, the scar is outlined in an oval shape, passing to the right and left of the scar. Then the roller is moved diagonally across the scar and massaged in diagonal strokes in both directions.
