Originally a wild plant, Sacha Inchi is now cultivated on a larger scale and provides an important source of income for many of the region's inhabitants. Oil from organically grown Sacha Inchi is produced in Tarapoto in the San Martin province of Peru, one of the most ecologically diverse regions of the country. The oil is cold pressed in a modern oil press.
