Linden trees can grow up to forty meters high and very old, often many hundreds of years. The linden tree is originally native to Europe, but is rarely found in the wild. It is seen mostly where it has been planted by humans. There are different types of lime trees, in Europe the summer lime and the winter lime. The large-leaved linden (Tilia platyphyllos) blooms from June to August. The winter linden (Tilia cordata) with similar characteristics blooms a few weeks later. The lime species can be distinguished - apart from the time of flowering - by their heart-shaped leaves. While the leaves of the large-leaved linden have white hairs on the vein axils of the underside, those of the small-leaved linden have red hairs there. In addition, the leaves of the large-leaved linden are larger than those of the littleleaf linden.

Use

As a tea: To prepare as a tea, boil 3-4 teaspoons with cold water and simmer for about 20 minutes. Then strain and enjoy.
