The oldest perfume in the world - for more than 60,000 years, the indigenous people of Australia's Gibson Desert have used the wild-growing desert wood: as incense for spiritual rituals and religious ceremonies, to calm the body and mind, and for medicinal purposes. The essential oil of Australian Sandalwood (Santalum spicatum) enchants with its soft, balsamic and slightly woody scent, which is somewhat more intense than that of Santalum austrocaledonicum. Due to its high content of sesquiterpenols, especially santalol, it is very skin-friendly and nourishing. Thanks to these ingredients it has strengthening properties for the body's own defences and is a useful beneficial companion in the colder months of the year. On a psychological level it is balancing and mood-lifting, helps with anxiety and stress symptoms and supports a good night's sleep. The Grand Cru project was created in Gemcollaboration with the indigenous Gemcommunities of the Australian Central Desert and focuses on their appreciation as true custodians of the land and indigenous resources.
