During absorption, the alginate fibers form a soft, moist gel, which in turn provides a moist wound environment conducive to the healing process. The gel can be easily removed by flushing with saline 0.9%. Melgisorb Plus is soft, pliable and conformable and can be trimmed to the desired shape. Melgisorb Plus is non-sensitizing and can be used on a variety of infectious and non-infectious wounds. It can be used on shallow wounds and wound cavities.
