True thyme (thymus vulgaris), also known as quender or garden thyme, belongs to the Lamiaceae like all thyme. These contain many essential oils, therefore usually smell very intense and are often used as spice herbs, especially in Mediterranean cuisine. Instead of fresh thyme, dried thyme leaves can also be used. When dosing, act somewhat cautiously so that the thyme flavor does not become too intense.

As a tea: For preparation as a tea pour 1-2 tsp with boiling hot water and infuse for 10 minutes.
