UrgoTül is a product based on lipid colloid technology (TLC) developed by Laboratoires URGO. UrgoTül is a sterile, flexible, non-occlusive lipid colloid gauze wound dressing. It consists of a mesh of polyester fibers impregnated with hydrocolloid particles (carboxymethylcellulose), parafin, Vaseline and polymers. In combination with the wound exudate, the hydrocolloid particles gel and, together with Vaseline, form a lipidocolloid boundary layer between the wound and the wound dressing. This creates favorable conditions for the healing process (healing in a moist environment).

Due to its composition, UrgoTül does not adhere to the wound or the wound edges and can be changed painlessly, i.e. atraumatically for the patient, without disturbing the healing process. Since UrgoTül is highly conformable and flexible, the gauze wound dressing is also suitable for covering fissured wounds, for treatment in difficult areas and for tamponading deep wounds. UrgoTül is covered with a secondary dressing.

Fields of application

Acute wounds (burns, skin abrasions, postoperative and traumatic wounds) and chronic wounds (leg ulcers, decubitus ulcers, wounds resulting from diabetic foot syndrome) in the granulation and epithelization phase, wounds resulting from the hereditary disease epidermolysis bullosa.

Dressing change

UrgoTül is changed every 2 to 4 days depending on the degree of exudation and healing condition of the wound. In the treatment of venous ulcers of the lower leg, UrgoTül can be left on the wound for up to 7 days together with a compression system. In wound treatments resulting from epidermolysis bullosa, the dressing should be changed every 1 to 3 days. For further information on the use of UrgoTül, please refer to the package insert.
