The best travel pharmacy for your vacation
The most important things in brief:
- New dishes and different temperatures can sometimes lead to the body going on strike during the holidays.
- A first-aid kit is especially recommended for first aid
For many, holidays and travel are probably the most important time of the year. Even if it is always very exciting to get to know other cultures, try new dishes and often experience warmer temperatures - it is not uncommon for our bodies not to play along. Whether nausea, vomiting, rash; most of us have experienced this during the holidays. This is not only physically and mentally exhausting, but also annoying – one sometimes wants to use the holidays to relax and do something. But the stress level is all the greater when you are in a foreign country, dependent on medical first aid and perhaps not even able to speak the language.
It is therefore advisable to have something with you for exactly such emergencies when traveling - a so-called first-aid kit with the essentials for first aid. We would like to share with you what we consider to be the most important tips on what a first-aid kit should not be without:
- Travel sickness: Whether in the car, ship or plane. Nausea often occurs. Tablets or suppositories can prevent vomiting accordingly. Therefore, make sure that there is something in your first-aid kit against travel sickness.
- Fever knife: It is not uncommon for fever to occur when travelling. It is therefore advisable to always have a thermometer with you.
- Fever: In addition to the thermometer, which you can use to check your body temperature, it is also recommended to have something in your luggage to combat fever. Appropriate medicines are available in powder, tablet or suppository form.
- Diarrhoea: Different countries, different food - and the intestines suddenly go haywire. This has to do with the fact that meals abroad are often prepared differently (e.g. oil, spices, etc.) than at home. The body is often not used to this. It is therefore advisable to always have something against diarrhea with you. Especially if you are on a round trip, for example, spend more time in means of transport and cannot always go to a toilet.
- Wound disinfection: It doesn't matter whether you slip, miss a flight of stairs or simply fall unluckily from other circumstances, cut yourself or even graze your leg on a coral. It is particularly important that you disinfect smaller, bleeding wounds immediately.
- Plasters: In addition to disinfecting the wound, it is also important to have a plaster with you, which protects the wound after disinfection and allows it to heal better.
- Anti-allergic: Ultimately, you never know how your body will react to other foods, sudden mosquito or insect bites. Make sure you bring anti-allergic medicine with you, which could be taken immediately in the event of an allergic reaction.
If the symptoms do not improve within 24 hours, a visit to a doctor is strongly recommended. Find out in advance from your health insurance provider how you are insured for this abroad.
