What can be done against heavy legs?
The most important points in brief
- Do you suffer from heavy legs - especially in the evening - without having to walk a lot?
- Do you spend most of the day sitting or standing?
- Then your venous valves are probably no longer performing particularly well and the blood builds up in your legs.
- As is so often the case, more exercise and a healthy diet are helpful.
There is hardly anyone who does not complain about heavy legs every now and then in the evening. Of course, anyone who travels a lot on foot for work or sports also knows where the symptoms come from. But many people who stand or sit a lot also suffer from heavy legs - and this is exactly where you can start. Because a healthy amount of exercise is good and also relieves the legs.
Walking a lot helps against heavy legs
Our movement in everyday life is often restricted. Why take the stairs when we have to go to the third floor? Why walk two bus stops and not walk? Why pay just one visit to your colleague two rooms down for a meeting when you can also use the company phone, e-mail or a chat tool? Often we don't even realize how little we move. And there is often no time for sports after work, who else picks up the kids from kindergarten and goes to the supermarket?
It is precisely those everyday, little things that - if left out - put a lot more strain on our body than the movement itself. Often we notice this in our legs in the evening that (because that's what they are there for) want to be moved. Because without enough exercise, the blood circulation is not optimal and the muscles become weaker. Tissue fluid and blood build up in the legs, which are no longer able to transport these substances. The result: the legs swell and start to hurt.
Load the body differently to prevent heavy legs
After work, it makes sense to stress the body differently than during the day, when the sitting posture often dominates. Fascia rolls are a great alternative here, because they excellently compensate for one-sided body loads and also prevent heavy legs. Fascia rollers also ensure that the tissue fluids are transported back and not only improve their circulation, but also general well-being. Last but not least, fascia rollers make their users much more flexible.
A completely different kind of burden are the poisons that we regularly expose our organism to - tobacco and alcohol in particular are at the top of the list. The venous valves no longer work properly and the "used" blood does not run back to the heart, but to the legs. And of course that causes pain. So the same applies to all other health aspects: little alcohol and best to refrain from smoking.
Cold-hot shower and an alkaline diet for heavy legs
Speaking of veins: With alternating showers of cold and hot, you not only help the immune system on the jumps, but also the vein activity. A good remedy for heavy legs - as well as a healthy, alkaline diet that does without a lot of red meat and instead is based on herbs, grains, nuts, legumes and vegetables (preferably everything from organic farming). The consumption of plenty of water every day is also very important, it should be at least two liters.
