What can you do about tiredness?
The most important points in brief
- Many of you are probably familiar with this - you have had a short night or slept badly and are tired and exhausted in the middle of the day.
- Even a lavish lunch or a very monotonous activity can make the eyelids heavier and heavier.
- If the tiredness is great during the day, there can be a variety of causes.
- But the crucial question is: What can you do urgently to avoid falling asleep at work?
People know tiredness in many different forms. For many of our conspecifics, for example, it is an unhealthy lifestyle that includes poor nutrition, too few vitamins, too much alcohol. Others are chronically exhausted and thus a case for the doctor, still others drag stress around with them or ponder their problems for nights on end.
Sometimes you are tired from just not getting enough sleep
The causes listed are extremely diverse, and you should actually see a doctor or start therapy if you have to affirm even one of these signs for yourself. The following is about the harmless kind of tiredness - the kind that occurs when you have really only slept badly or the night after a birthday party is just a little too short.
Whether working day or not: The coming day is almost always a bit sluggish. However, some people get tired if they just eat too hard at lunch after getting enough sleep and a normal morning. Often only the activity carried out is dull and tiring. On this page we give you a few tips on how to avoid this harmless kind of tiredness for at least a few hours. Amazingly, they are not insider tips that you have never heard of ...
Sleep is the best way to combat fatigue
When you are tired you should sleep. However, what one prays for small children every day does not apply to oneself in case of doubt. But what speaks against a ten-minute nap (more is often counterproductive)? At most the supervisor, that's right - but sometimes people can be convinced of meaningful things. In any case, on an overtired weekend day, the inhibition threshold for a long nap shouldn't be too great.
If the nap cannot be integrated into the daily routine in the office, then try exercise. Getting up from your desk often helps, but of course a combination of exercise and fresh air is best. Not only the running itself helps here, but also the perception of other impressions. This creates new stimuli for the brain, and they are worth gold in the fight against fatigue.
Cold, a cold shower and coffee wake you up
The effect of an open window should not be underestimated. Ventilation is sufficient if you repeat it regularly. Surprisingly, it is not the oxygen that helps, but the inflowing coolness. The oxygen content in a room does not decrease if it is not ventilated for a few hours - only the heat and the proportion of carbon dioxide increase. And that makes you tired.
What else? A cold, revitalizing shower helps, it brings the brain - just like movement - many new stimuli and wakes it up. Last but not least, coffee also helps, at least if your organism is not too used to caffeine.
