How good is Pilates for the figure?
The most important points in brief
- A good figure is a worthwhile goal for most people - and not just during the warm seasons.
- Probably the biggest problem in this context is losing weight.
- There is a slimming agent that can reduce body volume and weight in a gentle way.
- Read here why Pilates is so valuable for the body and the figure.
Those who want to lose body mass and volume often take a difficult path. No measures are spared to burn fats, and it is not uncommon for your health to be at risk on the way to a better figure. There is an alternative that is well known, but is often and widely underestimated: Pilates.
Suitable for beginners?
In general, it is recommended that, as a beginner, you should not start Pilates without attending a class in a gym or club. That's not entirely wrong - but who has the time? As a beginner, it is absolutely sufficient to look around online for a course that teaches you a lot about the basics and the exercises.
In this respect, Pilates is actually suitable for beginners if you have the leisure to invest some time. From a physical point of view, Pilates is a great start for those who don't like exercise, as there are no jerky movements. This is easy on the untrained body. In addition, the movements are generally quite slow and flowing, accompanied by a targeted breathing technique that encourages deliberate movements.
Sounds inefficient - but it is absolutely not
Slow, deliberate, flowing movements - that sounds like Pilates can't be efficient at all? Not even close! Because the exercises are actually demanding, as they address a large part of the muscles in our body. Pilates is particularly aimed at the deep-seated muscle groups, which are particularly strengthened.
This holistic approach means that losing weight is relatively easy and the dream figure does not have to remain a dream. If you do the exercises regularly, you will also notice that coordination and posture are also improved. Last but not least, Pilates stabilizes the spinal muscles, boosts the metabolism and helps reduce stress. Oh yes - the ability to concentrate is also promoted by Pilates.
The core of the body is important
If you have already dealt with Pilates a little, you have probably come across the term «powerhosue». This means nothing other than the middle of the body. This has to be activated before every exercise, so that you can really train the deep-lying muscle groups - these are the muscles of the spine, the pelvic floor, the diaphragm and the corset muscle. In many people these are only relatively poorly developed.
With Pilates you can specifically strengthen these muscles. This is exactly why activating the core of the body is so important. To do this, you need to bring the pelvis into a neutral position. At the same time, you must not form a hollow back, which is why you have to pull in your stomach or navel.
If you do Pilates on a regular basis, you will notice that the popular prejudice that Pilates is not a sport at all is not true. On the contrary - despite the careful and flowing movements, Pilates can be very strenuous and leads to a firmer figure and the rapid loss of excess pounds.
